Artell Still Open To Nantwich Friendly

4 July 2017

Crewe boss would still like to play our near neighbours in friendly game.

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell is still hopeful of resolving a potential pre-season fixture with our local neighbours Nantwich Town. The two clubs have struggled to pin down a date for our traditional pre-season encounter at the Weaver Stadium, but Artell says he will do everything in his power to try and fit the game in.

Nantwich have had to postpone a couple of suggested dates due to functions taking place at their stadium and with Artell having to finalise his pre-season fixtures, a concrete date is yet to be finalised. The Crewe boss is not totally ruling out that a pre-season game could happen at some point if the two clubs can agree on a suitable date.

David told crewealex.net: “We had a couple of potential dates arranged but they had functions on, so we couldn’t do it. We will try hard to fit one in. We will try and play them if we can because we get on well with Nantwich.

“They are our close neighbours and I am meeting Clive (Jackson) and Dave (Cooke) this week over coffee, so I’m sure we will talk about things and see what we can do. The diary is busy and we have to wait for the Under-21 fixtures to come out yet as well, which could have a bearing on it.”
