Artell to assess squad over pre-season but he has not ruled out doing more business before the window closes for good.
David Artell has told the club’s official web-site that his summer business has not finished and that he and his staff are still on the look-out for players to bolster his options.
The Crewe Alexandra boss has already signed five new players ahead of the new campaign and although he is delighted with the business he has been able to conduct thus far, he is not ruling out further additions before the end of the transfer window.
Artell told us: “I am quite happy with the squad and I am pleased with the business we have done so far. It was nice to get some business done early and then get two more in mid-way through and I am not ruling out doing some business before the window closes.
“We are still looking but we are in no major rush. I can step back and assess things a bit now and if I feel we need to strengthen in one or two departments then we will revisit it. We may pick up one or two injuries along the way, so that might force my hand a bit.
“We can now address the situation and decide what to do. I would like our own players but I am certainly not adverse to a loan deal. They are our insurance policy if you like.
David added: “At the moment the players are getting their opportunity and they will be picked on merit. If I think that we need to improve in certain areas or need one more then we will look at it.”
