Crewe Alexandra boss says his side have to cope with different styles better.
David Artell is sure that his four summer signings will only help with his team’s game management in EFL Two next season. The Alex boss added the experienced defender Eddie Nolan to his squad earlier this week and he says that the Alex dressing room is beginning to get the right blend of experience and youthful enthusiasm.
Nolan has joined Chris Porter, Michael Raynes and Jordan Bowery at the club and Artell says that with Chris Dagnall and Zoumana Bakayogo already at the Football Club, we will cope better with set-backs and on-pitch decision making should improve.
Artell told crewealex.net: “We have brought in some quality players. They have ability but they have also been there and done it as well. The mix and blend amongst the squad is better. It should mean that things can be sorted out on the pitch instead of them looking to the bench for instructions.
“Players like Eddie Nolan have played at a top level and when you have Chris Porter, Daggers and Michael Raynes out there as well, organising and making good decisions, then that is only going to help the younger ones.
“All the clubs we are going to play are different. We played Portsmouth and they wanted to pass the ball around and then played Newport and they didn’t. We have to be able to play against the different styles and stand up to the physical side of things. Everyone will be different.
The boss concluded: “We have to be able to handle both sides of the game and having the experienced players here will help with that.”
