Artell: "Learning From Mistakes In Pre-Season"

28 July 2017

David Artell says that his players were constructive watching a re-run of Tuesday’s 3-0 defeat at Macclesfield Town. The Alex staff showed the players the DVD on the defeat at Moss Rose on Wednesday and the manager says lessons will be learned going forward.

David told the club’s official web-site: “We watched clips of the game and went through them together. We were actually fine in large parts of the game and individual errors cost us on the night. It certainly wasn’t a penalty but look we are not here to debate that in pre-season.

“We were more disappointed with the individual errors that resulted in the penalty being awarded in the first place. It was a poor execution of a header that led to it. We made some bad decisions and you get what you deserve when you do.

The boss added: “I cannot condone it and we need to eradicate them. We just needed to be crisp in both penalty areas but I would much prefer that happens in pre-season. It is better to get them out of the way and move on from it.”
