Steve: "We Have To Be More Clinical"

3 January 2017

Steve Davis says Crewe have to adjust to breaking defensive teams down.

Steve Davis says his Crewe Alexandra side have to adjust to breaking teams down after failing to score for the second successive game. That is not to say that Crewe Alexandra have not continued to create chances in the games.

George Cooper went close against Accrington Stanley on two occasions and Morecambe’s Barry Roche saved smartly to deny Charlie Kirk and James Jones in the goalless draw yesterday.

Steve told crewealex.net: “The teams at the top of the league are more open. They attack more and try to open you up. They are confident enough to win games in that matter.

“The teams lower down are more defensive and there is less space. That makes things more difficult but we have to learn to cope with that.

“We have to rise above it and be better than the opposition on the day. If we can then we can match any team in this league.

He added: “It is up to us to show it.”
