Our Younger Players Have To Hit Consistent Level

3 January 2017

Steve says that scouts are watching our young talent but they have to become outstanding in League Two first.

Steve Davis believes that some of his younger players have the potential to go on and play at a higher level but they will have to become 'consistently outstanding' in League Two first.

The Alex boss has told the club’s official web-site that he knows of scouts coming to watch his latest batch of young players with the likes of George Cooper catching the eye with his six goals and overall performances this season.

Steve told crewealex.net: “I know that people come and watch our younger players and they are decent clubs as well.

“They come to watch because of the club’s reputation for producing good young players over the years and we have some potentially good players here. There are still good players in the lower leagues.

“It wasn’t that long ago that Dele Alli was playing for the MK Dons in League One and he has now become a really top player for England and Tottenham, but he had to become the top player in League One every week. He was top drawer almost every week.

The boss added: “The Football League is still a very good level for these types of players to emerge, but if you are going to get noticed then you have to be outstanding and consistent. That is the level that our younger players have to strive to try and get to. “
