David Artell says he is working hard to bring in a couple of players during the window.
David Artell says he and his head of recruitment Neil Baker have been working hard to bring in one or two new faces during the transfer window. The new Alex boss has been working closely with the experienced Baker this week to assess a list of potential targets and Artell has used his own contacts in the game to speak to various managers, coaches and scouts about possible loan players.
Artell, who succeeded Steve Davis on Sunday following the 3-0 defeat at Mansfield Town, has told the club’s official web-site that he has the backing of the club’s board of directors if the right players do become available.
David told crewealex.net: “We have been working hard. I’ve been on the phone a lot and spoken to people within the game about players. Neil has been doing the same and we would like to bring in a couple of players if we can.
“It won’t be for the want of trying that is for sure and I have had no reluctance from anyone at the club to try and do something. I have only had support on that.
“Yes, it is not ideal to come into in the middle of the transfer window but I can assure the fans that we will be doing everything we can to bring someone in.
He added: “It is something I will plan going forward and we will do it together to find the right players to supplement what we already have here.”
