Hollands: "Honour To Be Captain"

26 January 2017

New captain Danny Hollands happy to commit his future to the club.

Experienced midfielder Danny Hollands has told the club’s official web-site that it is great to have his immediate future sorted and that new boss David Artell has shown enough faith in him to not only sign him until the end of the season but make him his club captain.

Hollands became the sixth member of the Crewe squad to captain the side and Artell has been left very impressed by Hollands’ professionalism and leadership qualities.

Hollands is pleased to be staying at Crewe until at least the summer and on a personal level says it is a privilege to lead the team.

Danny told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: “The last couple of weeks have been a bit different to say the least, but it was great for myself personally to lead the team out last Saturday.

“Unfortunately, the result didn’t go great for us, but we’ve got to look forward to Cheltenham now which is a big game and get a get run together till the end of the season.

“The thing with football is that you never know what’s what, stuff can change within a couple of days. For myself it was a case of trying to train well and when I get the opportunity, to play well and then what will be will be kind of thing.

“It can all change very quickly and we want to get a positive result and then go on from there. If we can get three points then I am sure it will give everyone a massive lift.”
