Fans Appreciated The Effort Of Players

Boss praise for Alex fans for their encouragement.

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell praised the clubs fans after an improved performance against Cheltenham Town saw him pick up his first point as a manager. Crewe Alexandra were a bit unfortunate not to claim all three points after creating the better of the chances on the day at Gresty Road,  but Artell believes that his team is moving in the right direction again.

Following the goalless draw with Cheltenham, David told us: “It was important we didn’t lose the game. It wasn’t the be all and end all because there are a lot of games still to be played but for the confidence it was important we didn’t lose.

“I am sure Gary (Johnson) got on the bus and was happier than we were with a point but the performance was decent and I think the fans appreciated it. They were great with the players and encouraged them to keep going. We tried everything we could to try and win the game and I think the fans could see that.

“If I was a paying fan I want to see 11, 14 lads giving their all. They have to give everything that is none-negotiable as far I as I am concerned. The effort was there and that is the bare minimum I expect as a manager.

David added: “They will give everything that have with me as manager and if they don’t then they can come and watch the game sat next to me. “
