Davis Would Like New Forward Option

4 January 2017

Steve Davis wants target man to improve his attacking options.

Steve Davis has made no secret of the fact that he would like to give his forward line another option by bringing in a potential target man during the transfer window.

The Alex boss is relying on his experienced front two of Chris Dagnall and Ryan Lowe to stay fit and firing because the potential back-up of Daniel Udoh and Callum Saunders is relatively inexperienced. The Alex boss would like to take some of the pressure off of his regular front two by increasing the competition in forward positions.

The Alex boss is hoping to use the January window to bring in one or two new faces to freshen things up. He said: “I would like to bring in a big man if we can. It would give us something a bit different and more of a physical presence up there.

“Daggers and Lowey work their socks off and never stop for us, but they could also do with some help at times as well.

“A target man would give us a different option, either starting games or coming off the bench. We don’t really want to plonking centre-halves up there just to add some height when we are chasing a goal. It would improve us to have a proven one up there.

“They are never easy to find but if we could, it would allow us to get up the pitch more and allow our midfield to push on more.

“It would help with the balance of the squad and give us a different option.”
