Confidence Can Return Quickly

4 January 2017

Boss has confidence in his players to turn around our fortunes quickly.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis believes that our early season form can return. The Alex boss has admitted that confidence has been knocked by a disappointing couple of months and Crewe now find themselves in 17th position in the League Two table.

The Railwaymen will be aiming to restore some of that lost confidence with a positive display at Mansfield Town this weekend. The two clubs drew 1-1 back in early October.

Ahead our first away trip to Field Mill since October 2002, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “All we can do is look forward to the next game and that is Mansfield at the weekend.

“We will prepare right and make sure the players are aware of what we want to do.

“The recent results have resulted in a drop in confidence. That is naturally going to happen but it can just as quickly turn around with a good performance and a win.

“At the moment we are playing with some anxiety and are not taking our chances like we were at the beginning of the season. We have to restore that lost confidence and I believe that it will come back and we can get back to performing to the standard we require.

“I have faith in this group of players. They work hard and I am confident that the front four will get back to taking those chances again. They all have ability and have shown it this season, but I also think one or two new faces would give us a lift as well and give us another option from the bench if needs be. At the moment we have a reasonably young bench.”
