Artell Out Watching Opposition

31 January 2017

It's Deadline Day, but the new boss makes round trip to watch Grecians in the action.

David Artell is watching Saturday’s opponents Exeter City in action this evening. The Alex boss has travelled to St. James Park to watch the in-form Grecians take of Wycombe Wanderers this evening.

Crewe are set to face Wycombe Wanderers at Gresty Road on Valentines’ Day.

The Crewe Alexandra boss says he is prepared to make the eight hour round trip as part of his preparation for Saturday’s game.

Dave, who is still working hard to bring in reinforcements ahead of tonight’s deadline, said: “Ronnie Moore was my manager at Rotherham and I saw how hard he worked. I was brought up on his preparation and attention to detail.

“He would go to a game on a Tuesday night, wherever it was, and he would be on the training ground on a Wednesday morning, clip board in hand, telling us about the opposition and what they did the night before. It didn’t matter if it was Gillingham, Plymouth or whoever.

He added: “It is important to go out and watch games. It is the professional thing to do and I have an opportunity to go and watch two of our next three opponents. I don’t care that it is four hours there and four back, it’s what needs to be done.”
