Artell On Transfer Targets

31 January 2017

Boss says he will work right up until the final minute of deadline to get one down.

David Artell has told the club’s official web-site that he has been in contact with a potential transfer target, but he has not received a definite ‘yes’ ahead of the transfer window closing at 11pm this evening.

The Crewe Alexandra boss is hoping to bring in a new face to bolster his squad and any move is not dependant on defender Harry Davis moving out.

Dave explained to the club’s official web-site: “I’ve spoken to a player and thought he was coming but now it is not so sure. It is challenging because you think you have one over the line but then it changes. We are not giving up on him but I am not as confident as I was on him.

“He is meeting his manager today and we’ll see what that brings.

“I remain confident that we will do some business. Who and when that happens I’m not sure but I am travelling down to Exeter this evening and will be working right up to 11pm to see if we can do something. There are irons in the fire and we will do everything we can.

“The door is open for business and we will work hard to make sure that we get the right one through it. First and foremost I want the right player. I want a hungry player, who wants to be here, who wants to come here and show his parent club that they were wrong to let him go out on loan.

“I want a player who is up for the fight here and wants to prove people wrong, not someone who just wants to come out and play some games and cruise, if you like, over the last few months of the season before going back to his club.”
