Artell: "Let's Upset The Odds"

18 January 2017

Boss targets morale boosting win against league leaders this weekend.

David Artell says his players should be looking forward to the challenge of upsetting the odds at Doncaster Rovers on Saturday. Darren Ferguson’s side are currently four points clear at the top of League Two and come into this weekend’s game on the run of nine wins from their last 12 matches.

Crewe previously inflicted a rare defeat on Doncaster Rovers back in early September when goals from James Jones and Ryan Lowe gave us a 2-1 home win.

Artell, in only his second game in charge is looking forward to the challenge at the Keepmoat Stadium. He said: “The challenge is there and we have to rise to it. What an ideal place to prove the doubters wrong and get a result.

“It is a wonderful stadium to play your football, it’s a great pitch and we know they have good players. They are going well and are a good team, so it would be the perfect tonic to go there and get a positive result.

“They were very good at Gresty Road and maybe we were a bit fortunate that we beat them, but we did. We could have been two down very early but we weren’t. We stayed in the game and won the game, so we know it’s possible.

“They have shown they are capable of doing that. We will have a game plan and will try and get the result that will restore some lost confidence.”
