Artell: "Kirk Will Be Up and Away When He Gets One"

30 January 2017

Crewe youngster Charlie Kirk will be a real player says new boss David Artell.

David Artell believes that when Charlie Kirk gets off the mark with his first senior goal, he will develop into a real game changer for the club. Youngster Kirk has failed to take some good chances of late, but Artell has been delighted with his overall performances in the three games he has taken charge of.

Kirk had a chance towards the end of the first half against Cheltenham at the weekend but hit his shot straight down the throat of Scott Brown. Artell believes that 19-year-old is just snatching at chances at the moment.

David told crewealex.net: “Charlie is just snatching at chances but when he adds goals to his game, he is going to be a some player. He has done well in the three games.

“He needs to create and score goals. That is what he is in the team for and I’ve told him that. He knows that.

“He has been bright in the three games and I only took him off on Saturday because he had a knock. I thought he was playing well. He will dust himself off and go again.

“I think once he gets the first one, he will be fine and on his way.

He added: “Charlie hasn’t been the only one of late to miss some chances. We haven’t been clinical enough and it is something we will continue to work on. Charlie is developing and has a big part to play for the club.”
