David Artell is hoping Guthrie will see his future at Gresty Road
New Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell will attempt to convince defender Jon Guthrie that it is in his best interests to remain with the club. Guthrie goes out of contract this summer but Artell is hoping to hold positive talks about his future with the player and his representative.
Guthrie has been one of Crewe’s most consistent players over the last couple of seasons and Artell wants the 24-year-old to stay at the club beyond the summer.
He said: “I will speak to Ben (Garratt) and Jon (Guthrie) again, just to see where they are coming from. They are both bright lads and they are important players for us. I’m sure we will talk again and I’m sure I will talk with their agents as well.
“If there is anything imminent? No. But I hope to have discussions in due course.”
