Artell: "Group Is An Honest Bunch"

12 January 2017

Players don't need telling they have been underperforming says new Alex boss.

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says he doesn’t need to tell his players that they have not played to their potential over the last few months. Crewe Alexandra have dropped from a high of third place in the League Two table to 18th position and Artell is looking for a vast improvement to move Crewe away from the bottom places.

Artell starts his managerial career with a home game against Nathan Jones’ Luton Town this weekend.

David told the club’s official web-site: “Every manager will tell you that they are looking for ways to improve. Players are no different. They want to improve and put in consistent performances.

“The players don’t need telling that they have underperformed recently. They won’t be looking in the mirror and kidding themselves on.

“They know they have to roll their sleeves up and aim to put things right. They are good enough and now they have to go out and show it more often.

“They haven’t been able to do that over a period of time, hence the change but this group is good enough to move up the table.”
