Artell has been impressed by Wintle's consistent performances for the U-23s.
David Artell has praised the consistent performances of Ryan Wintle for the club’s Under-23 side and says that the former Alsager Town youngster is continuing to press his claim for more involvement within the first team.
Wintle helped a young Crewe Alexandra side reach the semi-final of the Cheshire Senior Cup on Tuesday evening and the attack-minded midfielder has certainly featured more in the first team set-up since Artell succeeded Steve Davis last month.
Artell told crewealex.net: “The most consistent player for the Under-23s has been Ryan Wintle. He is a little unfortunate that he has not made more appearances for the first team.
“His time will come and he will get those opportunities here. Maybe it is a bit unfair to put an inexperienced player into the team at this moment but I know if I did, he would have the character, ability and temperament to handle it.
“Ryan is a good player and he will only get better. He just has to keep working hard in training and put that into his performances.”
