George Ray given every chance to face Mariners.
David Artell says he will give his defender George Ray every chance to declare himself fit to face Grimsby Town this weekend. Ray was forced off early on against Exeter City last weekend after injuring his knee and had to be replaced by Zoumana Bakayogo. Artell was forced into readjusting his back four with Jon Guthrie slipping back into the centre of the defence.
Ray is rated as 50/50 by the Crewe boss for the visit of the Mariners this weekend. He said: “George is rated at 50/50 at the moment but we will give him every chance. We’ll take the advice of the physio and from George himself and then make the decision.
“If he isn’t quite ready then we will be okay with Jon, Ben and Perry.”
