Guthrie Should Be Ok For Wycombe

13 February 2017

Defender withdrawn against Grimsby as a precaution

Alex defender Jon Guthrie looks set to be fit to take to the field for the midweek visit of Wycombe to Gresty Road having been substituted late on against Grimsby after struggling with a knock.

Boss Dave Artell has revealed the change was merely as a precaution, with the team 4-0 up & crusing to victory against the Mariners.

Midfielder Billy Bingham continues to step up his fitness with another full week on the training field, & Callum Saunders & Tommy Lowery are also set for a training return this week - with none of the three available for the Wycombe clash.

Everyone else came through the weekend intact, with Artell expected to name the same 18-man squad for the clash with the Chairboys.

He said: "Jon (Guthrie) had a little niggle, that's all. When you're 4-0 up you've got the luxury of giving him a rest.

"That was the situation with Jon & he'll be fine.

"It was the same with Daggers & George. Neither of them deserved to be brought off, but why not when you can afford the luxury of giving them a rest ahead of another big game in the week."
