Dagnall Ban Re-Opens Doors For Someone

27 February 2017

Artell says up to someone to really grab their opportunity.

David Artell says that Chris Dagnall’s upcoming three-match suspension will re-open the door for someone to grab their opportunity. Dagnall was shown a straight red card for retaliation after being punched by the Stevenage goalkeeper Jamie Jones in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat and the club’s leading scorer will now serve a three-match ban.

Artell was ‘disappointed’ by Dagnall’s reaction but now says that the challenge is there for someone to grab the shirt.

David told the club’s official web-site: “Daggers will now miss three games, so it opens the door for someone else. The opportunity is there for someone to come in and stake their claim.

“If I was a player, I would be thinking this could be my chance to get the shirt. I would be thinking that Daggers is out for three games and if I play well enough then I could get in the team from now until the end of the season.

“There are 13 games left and this is now an opportunity for someone to step forward and take their chance.

He added: “It is a good game to come into. It is not as though it is against a team that are in the top three and don’t concede too many goals. They are down there with us and I would be thinking as a forward, right here we go, let’s cement my place in the team.”
