Cooke Determined To Make An Impact

Cooke aiming to make an impression in front of home faithful

Crewe Alexandra’s deadline day signing Callum Cooke says he is looking forward to making his home debut for the club on Saturday. Cooke has signed on loan from Middlesbrough until the end of the season and he certainly made a favourable impression in front of the travelling Alex fans at Exeter City.

Despite the 4-0 defeat at St. James’ Park, Cooke was arguably Crewe’s best performer on the day and he deserves great credit for his display considering it was his senior debut.

Ahead of the Mariners arriving at Gresty Road on Saturday, Cooke told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: “I’m definitely pleased to here. It’s my first loan, it’s a great stadium with a great stand and I can’t wait to get going.

“It’s my first taste of league football, senior football as well. The main difference will be the crowds and the atmosphere.

“It’s my first loan spell so I’ve still got lots to learn. I’d say that I’m quite exciting, I like to get on the ball and dribble and to chip in with a goal or two and hopefully I’ll start on Saturday in front of the home fans.

“I want to make a positive impact in front of the fans at Gresty Road and try to get the supporters on my side from the start.

The midfielder added: “Grimsby are a tough side with a good following, so it will be another hard game, but I’m confident there’s enough in this team to get a positive result and kick-on a run from there.”
