Artell: "No-One Getting Carried Away"

21 February 2017

Boss says his players have had a good week but that is all its been so far...

David Artell has told the club’s official web-site that no-one is getting carried away with our recent good form.

The Crewe Alexandra boss has been delighted with the response of his players after they collected seven points from the last possible nine, but says that the hard work has to continue.

Artell told crewealex.net: “It has all been positive with the U-23s winning yesterday at Sheffield Wednesday. They know they have to work hard to get a first-team shirt and I would like to think that the ones who are not in the team at the moment are looking at what is happening in the first team and they want a piece of it.

“Working hard is non-negotiable with me. If they don’t run around and put the effort in for the team then they won’t play. It’s a simple as that with me.

“The hard work has given us a foundation and a platform for our qualities to come through, so it is key that it continues. We will have set-backs because football is a bumpy road.

“We have had a good week but that is all it has been, a good week. We are not getting carried away, there’s a lot of work to be done.

“The players have to continue to work hard and strive to either get into the team or stay in the team. I want those hungry players, who are all in it together and I think we have that now. If they don’t want to be here then come and see me and we’ll make sure you are not here because we want to create momentum and all pull in the same direction.”
