Artell Impressed By Stevenage

22 February 2017

Alex boss says Stevenage will come and play possession football at Gresty Road.

David Artell has stated that his Crewe Alexandra side will have to work extremely hard to stop an in-form Stevenage at the Alexandra Stadium this weekend. Darren Sarll’s side are currently just one point off a play-off place and will arrive in South Cheshire on Saturday on the back of four wins and a draw from their last five games.

Crewe have remained unbeaten in their previous three games themselves and we need the points for different reasons in League Two.

Artell has been impressed with Stevenage’s form this season as they aim to be involved in the promotion hunt.

The Alex boss said: “Stevenage are a good side. They went to Exeter City, who have been flying, and they played them off the pitch in the first half. We know how good Exeter are and they hardly got a kick.

“They are a good side and they are in good form. We are confident as well, so it should be a good game. We will have to work hard to stop them playing, first and foremost, because they have good players.

“Godden is a goalscorer and we know about Steven Schumacher, who was with us. They also have Tonge and McAnuff, who have played at the very top and they have been around and done it. They are good footballers and they keep the ball well.

He added: “If we let them play then they have players who are more than capable of hurting us.”
