Artell 'Devastated' For Hollands

21 February 2017

Boss frustrated by Hollands injury.

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says he has been left devastated for Danny Hollands after the midfielder was ruled out for at least two months with a severe hamstring injury.

The experienced midfielder has suffered a tendon injury rather than a more straight forward grade tear and that means the injury will take longer to heal, but Artell says the club and its medical team will do everything in their power to get him back before the end of the season.

Hollands, who has made 29 appearances for Crewe this season suffered the injury against Wycombe and will go for a second scan in London this week.

Artell told the club’s official web-site: “It’s not good news about Dan and I am devastated for him because he has been great for me. He is a top professional and a good player.

“He is very good in the dressing room and around the place. He has developed into a real leader. Not the ranting and raving type but he leads by example and has a quiet word when it is appropriate.

The boss added: “He is away from his family and I know from experience, how tough that can be, so we will try and help him with that during his recovery.”
