David Artell says that youngster will learn from mistake at Exeter
David Artell says he has spoken to Charlie Kirk in regards to the first sending off of his career at Exeter City. Kirk returned from his three-match ban to score for the club’s Under-23s against Sheffield Wednesday on Monday and he now as to force his way back into the manager’s plans.
Ahead of our weekend game against Stevenage, Artell told crewealex.net: “I have spoken to Charlie and he knows that in the modern game you cannot get away with things like that. It wasn’t a glaring one in my eyes but you have to accept it and learn from it.
“He gave the referee an opportunity to send him off and there is no defence. He knows that. He is a great kid and has bags of talent. The trick for him is to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
“We don’t want to lose players in a game situation because of being overzealous and then lose them for three matches as well. Charlie knows he made a bad decision at that moment and he will put it down to experience.”
