David Artell says that George Cooper ‘got the other side of his game right’ against Crawley Town at the weekend. Not only did the back in-form youngster provide another two decisive assists in our relatively comfortable 3-0 win but he also impressed the manager and staff with his defensive work.
Cooper certainly ran Man-of-the-Match Callum Ainley close for the sponsors’ award after a solid all-round display.
Artell told the club’s official website: “We all know that George can be a match winner for us but I thought that he did the other side of the game really well against Crawley. Ironically, I think it was one of his best performances out of possession.
“He did the right things all game and helped us defensively. He took up good positions to help us win the ball back and then when we did, he was well placed to receive the ball and attack.
He added: “The other lads could see that George and Callum had the making of their full-backs fairly early on and they kept giving them the ball whenever they could. Those two had a huge influence on the game. George assisted in two of the goals and Callum got us up and running with a cracker.”
