Artell: "We Have To Pass The Ball A Lot Better"

11 December 2017

David Artell says that his Crewe Alexandra side have to start to passing the ball again after a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Cheltenham Town on Saturday.

Crewe couldn’t find an equaliser at Whaddon Road in the closing stages and are now just above the relegation drop zone in League Two.

The Crewe boss told us: “We know what we have got to work on. We have played Blackburn and know the quality they have. They have strength in depth and Tony Mowbray has the luxury of making changes if we wants.

“We know they are a very good side and we will have to play well to get a result.

“I’ve watched the Cheltenham game twice and we couldn’t pass the water in that first half. It doesn’t get any easier to watch it and personally I didn’t think they tried to pass the ball. That is not the policy at this football club and I do not adhere to that either.

He added: “We have got to pass the ball a lot more and better than we did on Saturday. They have got to be brave and show that courage to get on the ball at all times. Not at 1-0 down or 1-0 up, but all the time. “
