Artell Knows His Transfer Markets

7 December 2017

David Artell says that he would like to add more experienced players to his squad but it will be difficult to balance his budget to do so. The Alex boss says he would like to bring in more senior players to operate alongside the club’s promising youngsters but he appreciates the markets he is dealing with in League Two.

Artell has already gone on record this week to say that he has already began looking at possible reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window.

The Crewe boss said: “We are compiling lists of players, watched some and had others watched. We are looking for good players, effective players, who could come into the team and help us. We only want players here who are going to improve us going forward.

“Ideally, I would like more senior players but I also know I have to be realistic and work within the budget. I know the markets we can operate in and it is up us to get the best in we can.

“I would like another Porter, Raynes or Dagnall. In fact, I think most managers would want a squad of 20 of them, but you can only get in the ones you can afford. It doesn’t matter too much about their age or experience as long as they are good players and can do a good job.

The boss added: “We managed to get Jordan and Callum Cooke in last January and I know they helped us enormously. “
