Artell On Cambridge Challenge

29 December 2017

David Artell expects another difficult away game at Cambridge this weekend but he is targeting back-to-back wins for only the second time this season. The Alex boss believes that Crewe Alexandra deserved more when the two teams met back in September.

The U’s defended well at Gresty Road to hold on to a 1-0 win. Jabo Ibehre scored the only goal of the game ten minutes before half-time and Shaun Derry’s side showed great resilience to secure the three points.

Artell told crewealex.net: “I thought we played well against Cambridge and deserved more than a 1-0 defeat on the night. I am sure Shaun would have said they played well too and defended well.

“We had chances but we played into their hands as well by putting in too many crosses to their centre-halves. We know it will be another tough game with what Uche offers them at one end and Leon Legge at the other.

“They have had a bit of a sticky run but they beat Barnet on Tuesday, so they will be looking to get back-to-back wins as well.

“We will have to stand up to them and play our football and we will go there with confidence after winning away on Boxing Day.”
