David Artell has told the club’s official website that he has set up meetings with a number of player representatives as we approach the start of the January transfer window. The Crewe Alexandra boss admits that he has ‘potential targets for the right areas’ in mind but says that the window is never straight forward with players and agents holding out for the right deals.
The boss told crewealex.net: “I've got meetings with agents set up. I’m constantly on the phone and so are the staff.
“Last January was an important month, and last deadline day I had 160 phone calls in the afternoon and it was carnage. I was on the way to watch Exeter and the amount of calls we took on the M6 and M5 was ridiculous. Looking back, I shouldn’t have gone to Exeter.
“It's going to be like that again and I’ve already told the missus that her birthday celebrations will be on hold again. It’s her birthday on the 29th.
“We are looking, we are out most nights watching players. John (Dillon) and Gary (Jenkins) were out watching one last night. We will keep looking and we will keep having dialogue with clubs.”
