Artell: "Learning Curve Every Day"

12 December 2017

David Artell says that every day in football management is a learning curve but that he is embracing the challenge of making sure we are not involved in another relegation scrap in 2018.

The Alex boss is quickly approaching 12 months in charge of the Football Club and he admits that he is facing the most difficult period of his managerial career with Crewe third from bottom in League Two.

The Crewe Alex boss told us: “Of course, it is a big test for me personally and a challenge for us all. Football management is a difficult challenge and when you are third from bottom of the Football League is becomes even more so.

“It is not something I shy away from. It just means we have to work even harder to turn it around. If I had ten years more experience as a manager would it help? Probably. But I’ve been in this situation as a player before and it is not nice.

“It is a learning curve every day and you learn more about yourself and your team when you are third from bottom than you do when we were 3rd or 4th at the top. It is time for everyone to roll their sleeves up, play the right way and get back on track.

The boss added: “If we do get back to doing what we do best and combine that with hard work then we will be fine.”
