David Artell believes that ‘you just have to get on with things’ when it comes to players missing through injury.
The Crewe Alexandra boss has been without key players, James Jones and George Ray all season due to injury and he has also lost midfielder Ryan Wintle since he fractured his tibia back in September.
Centre-half Michael Raynes has also missed the club’s last four games with a groin injury and the likes of Zoumana Bakayogo and Tom Lowery only returned from injury at Blackburn last weekend.
Artell refuses to use his injury concerns as an excuse as he aims to move Crewe up the League Two table.
“I was asked a few weeks ago about the injuries and us having not had James Jones and George Ray all season and then Ryan being out as well, “he said.
“You do miss players but there is nothing you can do about it. Injuries are part and parcel of football and you just have to get on with it. That’s football.
“When a player is out injured they are useless to the manager. If Messi is out injured then he isn’t the best in the world because he is not available. Until they are fit and available to you, they are no use to the manager. “
