David Artell has praised the magnificent Crewe Alexandra fans, who have supported him during his almost 12 months in charge of the club. The Alex boss is determined to give them more to shout about during 2018 by making us more successful.

Before heading for this weekend’s clash at Cambridge, Artell told us: “The fans have been magnificent to me personally. I’ve been in charge for almost a year now and they have been great with me. It has gone quickly and in certain games they have had every right to have a go.

“They have had every right to be disgruntled at times but I prefer it if they have a go at me rather than the players. That sounds negative and it hasn’t been.

“I want to give them more to shout about in 2018 and entertain them. We are working hard to bring success to the Football Club. Is it easy? No. It is rewarding? Yes. I am honoured and privileged to be manager of Crewe and I will work my socks off to try and bring success here.”
