Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell wants to encourage his players to continue playing the right brand of football against our FA Cup opponents Blackburn Rovers this evening.
Our second round replay takes place this evening after the two clubs agreed to put the kick off back by 24 hours due to freezing conditions and Artell is looking for his players to be brave in possession. He was annoyed with the way we played for the first hour at Cheltenham at the weekend as the Railwaymen went down 1-0 at Whaddon Road.
Artell told the club’s official website: “I want the players to play with courage and want to get on the ball. They cannot hide in possession and we will have to work hard out of possession as well.
“I want them to show that bravery and pass the ball. We didn’t do that enough at Cheltenham on Saturday and we ended up losing the game anyway.
“There are fine margins in football and anything can happen. That was certainly the case in the original game at Ewood Park.
“We know we will have to perform to a high standard because we know what a good side Blackburn are.”
