Artell Aiming For A Shot In The Arm Of Confidence

12 December 2017

David Artell believes that his struggling Crewe Alexandra side would receive a real morale boosting lift if we can get a result against League One side Blackburn Rovers.

Our FA Cup replay has been rescheduled for tomorrow evening after the adverse weather conditions scuppered our hopes of playing the game this evening.

Artell has been impressed with Tony Mowbray’s Blackburn side this season and knows that the Railwaymen have a tough assignment to prevent the League One side from stretching their unbeaten run to 13 matches in all competitions.

The original fixture at Ewood Park ended 3-3 after Crewe managed to fight back from 3-0 down after two Blackburn Rovers players saw red before the hour mark.

Artell told the club’s official website: “There is no reason not to believe that we cannot cause an upset. We have to belief and it is a one off game where anything can happen.

“We know what a good side Blackburn are. They are flying at the minute and going well in their league but it is up to us to stop them.

“We will be doing everything we can to try and win the game and we have our own match winners too if they play to their potential.

“Tony has strength in depth and some big players. They are the in-form team and they are expected to win the game with 11 men but if we can get the ball down and play some football, then we can give it a right go.

He added: “It I was a betting man, I’m sure Tony will make some changes from the side that won at Peterborough at the weekend but whoever plays for them, we know it will be tough but what a shot in the arm it could be for us if we could spring a surprise.”
