Development Coach Alex Morris saw his Under-23 side win 4-1 at Whitchurch Allport FC. Crewe were handed the advantage in the game following an unfortunate own goal, but the Shropshire side levelled through their striker Simon Everall after he broke the offside trap.
Crewe regained the lead before half-time with Harry Pickering finishing off a well-crafted team goal before the pacey Owen Dale made it 3-1 in the 65th minute with a fantastic solo run and finish.
Another of the club’s Academy graduates Josh Lundstram completed the scoring on the night, when we tucked home a corner at the near post in the final ten minutes.
On another plus note, striker Jordan Bowery completed almost 80 minutes of the game as he steps up his fitness following his hernia injury.
Crewe Alexandra would like to Whitchurch Allport FC for their excellent hospitality and we wish them every success for the season.
