Club's Scottish Youth International to have two days complete rest after injection.

Crewe Alexandra will remain cautious with midfielder James Jones after he was given an injection to ease the pain and inflammation around the hip joint.

Jones, who scored 11 goals last season underwent a hernia operation in the summer and that limited his pre-season work but the Scotland Under-21 International has suffered some discomfort as he stepped up his rehabilitation and the injection will help.

Boss David Artell told us: “Jonah had an injection yesterday and will now have two days complete rest. He will probably be back in Wednesday or Thursday, depending on how he feels.

“We hope that the injection will ease some of the discomfort he has been feeling and he will soon be able to come in and strengthen the area where he has felt that pain.

“It is frustrating being injured but we want Jonah to be 100% right, like anyone else. There is no rush for him and he knows that.”
