Alex skipper Chris Dagnall has spoken about being handed the captaincy for the early games of the 2017/18 season, with the deadly striker honoured to have been given the responsibility.
The 31-year-old revealed he was handed the armband in the dressing room shortly before the opening day clash with Mansfield, without the need for a formal captaincy annoucement.
Dagnall said: “Being captain is an honour & a privilege, it really is.
“It’s the first time I’ve ever been captain of a Club & I’m thriving on it, I’m enjoying it & loving having the armband.
“Nothing was really said to me, the Manager just gave me the armband before the first game, so I’ll just take it as it comes.
“I don’t think too many people would turn the armband down when it’s handed to them. It’s not really much of a choice, I had to take it!”
