Crewe Alexandra have completed a deal to sign Wigan Athletic defender Sam Stubbs on loan until January.

The 18-year-old has moved to The Alexandra Stadium until 10 January 2017 and will be available for the first time for Saturday's trip to Grimsby.

Son of former Everton defender Alan Stubbs, the youngster made his first senior appearance for The Latics' first team earlier this month, coming off the bench in the 2-1 Carabao Cup win over Blackpool.

Sam will wear the number 27 shirt during his time at The Alex, but hasn't signed in time for this evening's Checkatrade Trophy clash with Newcastle United.
