New signing Conor Grant has exclusively told iFollow The Alex that the conviction of David Artell to bring him to the club was a deciding factor in the midfielder signing on loan with us.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who has a wealth of playing experience thanks to previous loan spells with the likes of Motherwell, Doncaster Rovers and Ipswich Town, has signed for the Railwaymen until the 10th of January. The Everton youngster is in contention to be involved at Grimsby at the weekend but he appreciates that he has to work hard to earn a place in Artell’s in-form team.
Conor told iFollow: “I am very happy to be here. The manager tried hard to get me and I really appreciate that. It was nice to feel wanted and although there were a couple of other things, the manager really wanted me and he has shown that faith in me.
“I am still only 22 but I do have a lot of playing experience under my belt and I wanted to come out and play games. It was vital that I went out before the window. It wouldn’t have been good for me to play 23’s football, so I am happy that it is all sorted. I’m excited about the next five months and I cannot wait to get going
“There are a lot of quality players here and I know I have to work hard to get in the team. That is what I intent to do.”
