Boss Praise For Versatile Side

15 August 2017

Boss Dave Artell has praised the versatile nature of his squad after his side adapted to going down to ten men in the early stages against Newport on Saturday, without the Manager having to make a substitution.

Having a number of players who can fill different roles is something Artell was keen to implement in the summer & that looks to be paying off after the impressive fight-back to clinch a draw at the weekend.

He said: "Eddie's versatile, Brad's shown that he's versatile as well so that's a real feather in our cap.

"Eddie has played all across the defensive positions already this season, then you've got Brad Walker who played in an advanced midfield position against Newport, before filling in at centre half & then right-back.

"Having that versatility gives you great options and we've got that at the minute.

"We're grateful for it because you need it. You're only as good as the players if they understand their roles & responsibilities.

"I thought on Saturday, to a man, they grasped the majority of that we were trying to pass onto them in that heat of the battle situation, & they picked it up themselves too, & that's the key."
