Boss Dave Artell says he isn't worried about Chris Dagnall's lack of goals during pre-season or the first two games of the campaign - as he is doing for Chris Porter what Jordan Bowery did for him last season.
Porter has notched three goals in his first two games as an Alex player, & Artell says the partnership will Dagnall provides the perfect foil for the big man to get his goals.
Daggers himself benefitted from such a partnership last season when Bowery joined on loan in January, netting 12 of his 17 goals in the second half of the campaign.
Artell said: "If you ask Chris Dagnall, who was getting all the plaudits last year, then I'm sure he'll tell you Jordan Bowery was a big part in why he was scoring so many goals.
"You often talk about a strike partnership. It's never just a striker on their own scoring goals. At the minute Chris Porter will take the plaudits, but a lot of that is down to Daggers too."
