Boss Actively Looking Ahead Of Window Closure

28 August 2017

David Artell says he and his staff are actively looking to add a new face before Thursdays’ transfer deadline but the Alex boss is adamant that he will only sign someone if they are going to make a difference to his squad.

The Alex boss has been satisfied with the start his Crewe side have made to the new season after our second successive win over Port Vale took us into fourth in the table.

The Crewe Alexandra boss is composed over the situation and stresses that he will not sign a player for the sake of it.

David told crewealex.net: “We are certainly working on it but I cannot say anything for definite. I would like to think that we could do something before Thursday.

“I’ve always said that we are looking to improve, so if the right one comes along then we would look to do something.

“With the deadline approaching it has become the buyers’ market again if you like. Earlier in the month it was a sellers’ market, but now time is running out for those players without clubs or those looking to get out on loan.

“We’ll have to wait and see what happens. Who knows what can happen. January was hectic and we’ll have to see what unfolds over the next few days.

“If we don’t sign anyone then we will be fine because we have some outstanding young players here, coupled with some excellent senior pros. We also have a few in between and they get their chance to succeed here. If we can help them along the way by getting in some help then will do.”
