Artell: "I Don't Want The Phone To Ring On Deadline Day"

29 August 2017

David Artell is hoping that his mobile phone doesn’t ring on deadline day! The Crewe Alexandra boss is hopeful of keeping his squad together past the summer transfer window but he admits that anything can happen as the clock ticks towards the 11pm deadline.

The Alex boss has already gone on record to say that he like to add one or two to his ranks to help bolster his options. Clubs cannot do any business again until January due to the restrictions on windows and that includes loan agreements within the EFL.

Artell told the club’s official web-site: “We will only do business if we feel it is right for the football club and that is ins and outs. You never know what can happen. Last week we got one out of the blue really for James Jones and that was close to being finalised but didn’t quite happen.

“If someone comes in for Jonah or any of our players then it has to be right for the club and the player.

“I am not excepting any calls and I don’t want any calls either. We’ll just see what happens but I don’t want to sell anybody and if we can try and get another one in.”
