David Artell will experience his first derby game against Port Vale as a manager on Saturday and although he expects to get some stick at Vale Park, he isn’t treating it as different to any other game.
The Alex boss appreciates trying to secure the bragging rights for the supporters, but he remains focussed on making sure we stay unbeaten in League Two and better still get the victory against our near neighbours.
Ahead of the first derby game of the season, Artell told crewealex.net: “I don’t think it makes too much difference if we are at home or away or that it is a local derby. We are unbeaten and the trick is to make sure we remain unbeaten. My aim is to make sure we win the game and get the three points.
“I know what it means to the fans and that it is a big game for everyone but I won’t be making it bigger than it is or playing it down. I want us to go there, play well and remain unbeaten. I want it to stay that way and I am sure it will be an entertaining game.
"I've never experienced the game as a manager before, and I'm sure I will get some stick as a member of the opposition but I am looking forward to the game."
