Artell: "Plenty To Build On"

8 August 2017

David Artell believes there were a lot more positives than negatives to take from Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Mansfield Town. Crewe twice took the lead through Chris Porter only for the Stags to hit back and although he wasn’t pleased in the manner in which we conceded, the Crewe boss was overall pleased with the majority of our play in the season opener.

The Crewe boss told crewealex.net: “I thought Saturday’s game was an excellent advert for League Two football. I think anyone who came to the game would have been entertained. It had a bit of everything. I’m sure it must have been a good game to watch.

“Mansfield were physical and wanted to come and bully us a bit, so I was pleased that we stood up to that and played our football when we could. We had some chances to win it and there was plenty of good things to build on.

“We made a half decent start. It wasn’t perfect but there were certainly more positives than negatives. We didn’t lose and that was a priority and now we want to build some momentum and try and not lose the next one, then the next one, then the next one. “
