Crewe Alexandra goalkeeper Ben Garratt admits he missed our derby clashes with Port Vale last season.
Garratt, who has featured in four local derbies against the Valiants during his career, is looking forward to reviving old rivalries this weekend with a trip to Vale Park.
Garratt, 23, told iFollow The Alex: “Our week and preparation doesn’t change because we are playing Port Vale, but we all know there is something always extra that comes with a derby. We know what it means to the fans.
“I missed playing in those games last season. You do miss them because they are great games to play in because of the atmosphere. It is a game you always look forward to.
“The last time we went there was a day to forget for everyone. It was a horrible feeling to be relegated there and Saturday gives us a chance to put some of that right. I’m sure the fans will turn up in their numbers to support us and they always make a lot of noise at Vale Park.
“I’m sure they will be the same again on Saturday and it’s our aim to send them home happy.”
