Following Perry Ng’s red card against Newport County last weekend, David Artell will have to rethink his defensive line-up for the visit of Barnet. Right-back NG was dismissed early on in our 1-1 draw with the Exiles and will now serve a one-match suspension.
His absence will provide an opportunity for someone else in the Crewe squad and with Zoumana Bakayogo back from his knee injury and Harry Pickering impressing last weekend against Newport County, the boss will have one or two choices to make in his back four. The versatility of summer signing Eddie Nolan also gives his option at full-back if needed.
David told crewealex.net: “I spoke in the summer about having players with versatility to cover injury and suspension and this is one of those times. It is always beneficial to a manager to have players who can play in various positions. We have that now and whatever I choose to do will be the best for the team.
“Perry’s red card last week is an opportunity for someone else to come in and stake their claim. That is what you have a squad for and we will see how to change things.”
