Artell: "Believe"

3 August 2017

Alex boss believes we are well equipped to compete at the right end of the table.

David Artell has told his Crewe Alexandra squad that they are good enough to be involved in the race for promotion this season. The Alex boss is aiming high and says it is important that the players and supporters believe that our promotion success of 2012 can be emulated during the new campaign.

Crewe kick off the new season against title favourites Mansfield Town this weekend and Artell says that he is looking for a vast improvement on last season’s 17th placed finish.

Artell told crewealex.net: “Every manager is optimistic at this stage and I have every right to be because I know we have a good group with very good players.

“I believe that we are good enough to have a very good season. It is important that the players and supporters believe that as well. We need to be positive and have a real good go. I will be working as hard as I can, so whatever happens at the end of the season I can look in the mirror and say that I gave it my best shot. If the players do that and say the same then I won’t be having any complaints.

He added: “Everyone has a part to play. It doesn’t matter if you are Chris Dagnall, George Cooper, or Ross Woodcock and Lewis Reilly. We are all in this together and we have to support each other to be successful.”
